This role is ideal for a commercially aware procurement professional looking to make a tangible impact on a growing business with international supply chains. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing supplier performance, driving cost-effective purchasing strategies, and ensuring continuity of supply from global vendors. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strategic insight into purchasing decisions, and values strong collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Engineering, and Finance. With a firm understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain risks, the Purchasing Specialist will contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of the business. While experience in the industrial electrical distribution industry is desirable, candidates from other technical or manufacturing sectors will also be considered. Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end purchasing processes including supplier selection, negotiation, and performance evaluation. Develop and maintain strong relationships with both local and international suppliers.. Monitor and improve supplier performance with a focus on cost, quality, delivery, and compliance. Analyse market trends and supply chain risks to make proactive purchasing decisions. Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Finance to ensure purchasing activities align with broader business objectives. Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation using relevant ERP or procurement software. Ensure compliance with all trade regulations and internal procurement policies. Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise purchasing processes and drive cost savings. Requirements: Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management. Demonstrated ability to manage supplier performance and negotiate contracts effectively. Experience working with international suppliers, with a strong understanding of lead times and risk mitigation strategies. Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and an eye for balancing cost, quality, and reliability. Proficient in using procurement or ERP systems and analysing purchasing data to inform decisions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Resilient and solution-focused, especially when managing complex or global supply chains.
