NewERA's core role is to provide financial and commercial advice to Government Ministers in relation to the major commercial State companies across a range of sectors and which play a critical role in the Irish economy: AirNav Ireland, An Post, Bord na Mna, Coillte, Cras Iompair ireann (including Bus ireann, Dublin Bus and Irish Rail), daa, Dublin Port Company, EirGrid, ESB, Gas Networks Ireland, Irish Aviation Authority, Land Development Agency, Port of Cork, Port of Waterford, Shannon Foynes Port Company, Shannon Airport Group, RT, TG4, Uisce ireann and Vhi (together the Portfolio Companies). For further information, please see: About the Role NewERA is seeking to appoint a corporate finance manager with this role having a focus on the Portfolio Companies within NewERA's remit that are operating in the residential property development/finance sector and relevant experience in this sector is required. The role will provide the successful candidate with broad exposure to a range of financial advisory assignments in the commercial State sector, working in a commercially driven environment that combines private sector best practices and a public sector remit. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of NewERA's advisory role from a shareholder perspective, primarily in relation to the residential property development / finance focused commercial State companies for which NewERA has responsibility, but also the wider Portfolio Companies as required (e.g., review and analysis of Portfolio Companies' proposals, identification of key financial and commercial issues) including oversight of delivery of their climate objectives. The successful candidate will lead in the preparation of high-quality reports and advice for Government Ministers and Departments and will also have the opportunity to engage with Government Departments and the Portfolio Companies. Principal Responsibilities The successful candidate ongoing responsibilities will include: 1. Assist in shareholder oversight of a number of the Portfolio Companies with a particular focus on the Portfolio Companies within NewERA's remit that are operating in the residential property development / finance sector. 2. Review and analyse financial reports (including annual reports and interim reports etc.) and business plans prepared by Portfolio Companies. 3. Review and analyse any borrowing, funding and capital expenditure proposals that Portfolio Companies are submitting for shareholder approval. 4. Review and analyse from a financial perspective any acquisition, disposal or joint venture proposals to be undertaken by Portfolio Companies. 5. Review of financial targets (e.g., dividend, profitability, gearing) and equity valuations for Portfolio Companies to monitor financial performance and shareholder return. 6. Assist in oversight of the delivery of climate objectives (e.g., decarbonisation / sustainability strategies) by Portfolio Companies. 7. Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the residential property development sector. 8. Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, in particular officials in Government Departments and senior management teams in the Portfolio Companies. 9. Prepare accurate, commercially focused and insightful reports capable of presentation to relevant Government Ministers/Departments. Educational Requirements Third level degree Membership of a professional accountancy or similar financial body desirable (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA) Experience Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years' experience in a relevant financial role in professional services, advisory or a commercial organisation of scale. Experience in residential property development / finance is required. Skills Strong financial and commercial analytical skills. Problem solving skills and the ability to multitask. Diligent and self-motivated with the ability to work independently. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail essential. A clear thinker with an ability to work through uncertainty / ambiguity. Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal. Flexible and considerate team player.
