The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team. While the role is officially based in Elm Park, Dublin 4 the team currently uphold a highly flexible hybrid way of working, with a requirement to attend the office minimum of once per week.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in both financial accounting and FP&A. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for timely and accurate financial accounting and reporting of expenses for both internal and group reporting as well as financial planning and analysis for expense budgets.

We are looking for a self-motivated and ambitious self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. This individual must be proficient in Excel, with a passion for leveraging its features and an interest in exploring other data tools. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines, and will take responsibility for ensuring all tasks are completed or reviewed by finance management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Completing the month end process for expenses including reconciling financial ledgers and source data as well as delivering group reporting requirements
2. Analysing actual expenses compared to budgets and forecasts to ensure overall targets are met and any surplus or deficit is identified and reported in a timely manner
3. Preparing reports, KPI analysis & presentations for various stakeholders and committees
4. Developing budgets as part of the annual planning cycle
5. Maintain excellent working relationships with business partners and stakeholders
6. Support the finance manager in tracking productivity initiatives
7. Continuously reviewing and updating of procedures to ensure they are current, complete and reflect best practice.
8. Evaluating and suggesting enhancements to further automate processes and improve the efficiency, quality and accuracy of deliverables.
9. Assist and provide mentorship to more junior team members

Required Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
2. Hold a professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA)
3. Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)
4. Strong technical accounting experience
5. Demonstrated experience of coordinating and delivering highly accurate output in an environment of multiple deadlines
6. Advanced knowledge in Excel, including building formulas, using pivot tables, formatting and manipulating data, working with large data sets, VBAs, Macros etc
7. Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams)
8. Proven ability to manage and complete a variety of projects simultaneously.
9. Big 4 Qualified accountant
10. Prior experience within a financial services environment
11. Working knowledge of insurance accounting
12. Prior General Ledger experience – SAP
