Offer Description

Post-Doctoral Researcher - Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics/ CSIT

6 Months, Specific Purpose Full-Time Post

Position Summary

The Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics at University College Cork (UCC) is looking for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher. The researcher will be employed on an explainable AI project using multimodal health data for visualisation and decision optimisation. The successful candidate will be working with a team of researchers on a range of topics, including explainable and trustworthy artificial intelligence for healthcare. It is envisaged that the candidate will be located on University College Cork’s campus.

The candidate should hold a PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, with a good track record of publications. The position is for a maximum of 6 months, (project end date 30.06.26). The successful candidate will be appointed at Post-Doctoral level depending on their experience and qualifications.

The research group leading this project is championed by Dr Harry Nguyen in UCC aimed at establishing a trustworthy AI for various applications, including healthcare, sustainability and scientific discovery. The hired researcher will be encouraged to collaborate with other members of the group both inside and outside of UCC.

The group is part of the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, and explainable and trustworthy AI project is hosted by Dr. Harry Nguyen at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics.

Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
