Are you an experienced software development engineer who is looking to make a big impact while working on one of the largest software pipelines on the planet? Then come join the Windows Servicing and Delivery team, which develops and operates the Servicing Engineering System, applying state of the art and current technologies (Azure, Kubernetes, AI) in support of both legacy and future Windows releases. We’re on a mission to modernize these business-critical services and provide CI/CD capabilities that allow for ongoing agility and seamless updates to our customers including Enterprises, End-User Clients, Azure, and the Developer community.

As a Software Engineer II you will contribute to the Engineering system by implementing new capabilities to the system including Micro-Services, Infrastructure as a Service, and intelligent hands-free capabilities. We aim to reduce/remove Live site issues via autonomous services and recovery, in support of a fast-changing code base.

Responsibilities

Modernize workflows that support Windows Build and related automation.

Design, code, and deliver software to improve automation, availability, reliability, scalability, security, including infrastructure-as-code.

Debug/troubleshoot the complete stack of build services, drive analysis of issues and outages, write software and platform automation to resolve production problems with durable system fixes.

Create solutions that are self-healing, based on telemetry signals and AI – we are data driven.

Collaborate and partner with other engineers on functional designs and platform solutions.

Design and implement real-time telemetry pipelines and monitoring solutions on world-class big data technologies in Azure to automatically discover problems at their source.

Participate in live site support with the support of both local and remote resources.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Azure or Cloud related Services experience including containers, Kubernetes, and other industry standards.

Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in computer science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Understanding of concepts like abstraction and inversion of control to ship testable, reliable, and maintainable code - C#, C++/C, Java.

Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
