Hobson Prior is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead and enhance software development operations for active medical devices. In this role, you will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of software projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will manage internal teams, external vendors, and cross-functional collaborations to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and experience in regulated environments.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and execute software projects aligned with business goals.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, quality assurance, and operations teams.
- Define and track performance metrics to improve efficiency and quality.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and technology decisions.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers and developers.
- Refine processes and align teams with Agile methodologies.
- Oversee training programs and ensure adherence to internal and regulatory standards.
- Manage relationships with external software vendors and contractors.
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership.

Key Skills and Requirements:

- Strong experience with software in active medical devices.
- Proven ability to lead and grow engineering teams.
- Experience managing software vendors and multi-vendor ecosystems.
- Solid understanding of Agile practices and project delivery frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven environments, such as healthcare or medtech.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps practices and infrastructure management.
- Experience with AI/ML development teams is a plus.
