Overview Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM is recruiting a Senior Sustainability Environmental Advisor to join its growing team based out of the Kildare Head Office.
Responsibilities Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering environmental improvements within the sector and associated trades.
Possess a good knowledge of ISO14001 compliance and assurance, along with key environmental aspects.
Have a good working knowledge and demonstrate some expertise in key strategy aspects (decarbonisation, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity) relevant to the role.
Support project implementation and delivery, management reviews, and associated procedures and plans.
Adhere to industry standards, company procedures, and legal requirements.
Communicate risks and opportunities to relevant projects, supported with mitigation and implementation plans.
Understand sector-specific reporting standards and key performance indicators.
Support the SESM as required to provide or coordinate monthly reports and inform continual improvement.
A good knowledge of environmental certification/assessment tools (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
Promote and champion awareness of BAM’s sustainability strategy and key themes (decarbonization, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity).
Deliver training and awareness sessions to project and regional operational teams within area of responsibility.
Support work winning and project delivery.
Act as an initial point of contact for PQQ and tender support, providing information and narrative to support submissions.
Engage with key client representatives on a peer to peer basis.
Monitor productivity and achieve required deadlines.
Collaborate with the ES team as required to define a cohesive way forward as BAM UK&I.
Who are we looking for? Hold an intermediate level and be working towards a full level membership in a relevant professional institution.
At least 3 years of experience in an environmental or sustainability role within construction or civil engineering.
Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, carbon reduction strategies, and circular economy principles.
Experience with environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and sustainability reporting including carbon calculations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Previous experience of delivering environmental projects/programmes.
Knowledge and experience of implementing Environmental Management standards.
Continual improvement programme and project delivery experience.
Experience drafting Management Plans and Risk Assessments.
