About the Job In relation to our safety role, this manifests itself, for example, with the introduction of traditional, lower carbon fuels into new sectors (e.g. biomethane injection into the natural gas network, compressed natural gas in transport). In addition, the Government has published a national Hydrogen Strategy. Consideration will need to be given to how Ireland addresses the safety risks associated with these new and emerging sectors, and CRUs role in that. Duties and Responsibilities: The Safety Inspector Gass specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Carrying out audits and inspections of the RGI scheme inspectorate, the compilation of associated reports of inspection findings and closing findings; Undertaking investigations in respect of suspected illegal gas works and gas incidents; - Recommending criminal enforcement action in accordance with CRU processes and managing follow up actions; Carrying out inspections of LPG networks as requested; Managing and supporting direct reports in terms of coaching, mentoring, along with skills transfer and development; Carrying out appraisals for each direct report through CRU annual appraisal process; Providing input into CRU policies/guidelines/procedures as required; Liaising with relevant national and international bodies as appropriate, including other regulatory bodies e.g. the Health and Safety Authority; Participating in technical committees under the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Contributing to the overall delivery of the CRUs strategic plan Peer reviewing of documents, as requested Advising and supporting the Commission, Senior Management Team and wider organisation on relevant regulatory or technical issues, and; Carrying out such other functions as may be required from time to time to support the Energy Safety Division and fulfil the business objectives of the CRU. The above list is not exhaustive. While the successful candidate will be assigned to a particular team within the CRU, they will also be expected to contribute to the work of the wider Division/CRU as requirements dictate. Essential Requirements Significant relevant experience in regulated gas related industry Level 8 degree in relevant discipline. Holds qualifications required to become a Registered Gas Installer Substantial experience in carrying out audits and inspections The Package Starting salary of €72,572 *Candidates should note that entry will be atthe minimum point of the scale. The rate of remuneration may be adjusted in line with Government pay policy. Candidates should note thatdifferent pay and conditions may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is a serving civil or public servant. Salary increments will be awarded annually, subject to satisfactory performance.
