AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Amazon Aurora is an exciting area of innovation for AWS, and the PostgreSQL-compatible edition of Amazon Aurora is built on top of one of the most active open source communities, PostgreSQL. The PostgreSQL-compatible version of Amazon Aurora is a relational database which offers enterprise-class performance, availability and durability to our customers, along with the management benefits of RDS. Amazon Aurora is one of the fastest growing businesses within Amazon Web Services.
Aurora Limitless Database takes the conventional Amazon Aurora further for scalability and high write throughput. Current data generation and data processing requires a database that can scale virtually to any limits and give a high write throughput. Limitless database exactly covers this aspect of the organization's needs with the obvious benefit of a pay-what-you-use model.

Amazon Aurora team is looking for an engineer to work and collaborate with other engineers, database engineers (DBEs), stakeholders and build the high-quality distributed databases for cloud. An ideal candidate for this position will be an engineer who has extensive experience working in relational database engine internals, experience with PostgreSQL development and knowledge of distributed databases.

Amazon Aurora team within AWS organization builds databases for cloud environments. The team is spread across the world and works in harmony to create solutions that solve customer’s real-world problems. The team is at the center of building a highly distributed and scalable database for cloud and works with Product Management, DBEs and other engineers to build the high-quality product. With AWS, of course, the benefit of working on big scale projects, having all sides of product development covered and making a big impact come automatically. The team is highly dynamic and helpful to each other to bring the best out of the teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications
1. 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2. 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
3. 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
4. Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
5. 5+ years of query processing engine development experience within a well-known transactional database system
6. 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
7. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
8. PostgreSQL internals
