You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and will support the nursing team to undertake this role. Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans in conjunction with patients, carers (where relevant) and other professionals ensuring individual needs are met. To prepare for, participate in and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings, such as Tribunals and supporting the nursing team to undertake this role. To lead the unit, you are working on and support junior staff in clinical decision making. To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including the custody, storage and administration of medicines. To maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction. To ensure patients' rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act. Clinical Nursing Lead (s) to ensure that allocated staff are aware of Individual care plans and objectives, together with any set activities to be undertaken. Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff members. To actively participate in clinical group and reflective practice forums in line with service expectations. To take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing. Under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing, exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team and the MDT. Inform the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing of any professional issues as necessary in line with NMBI codes of conduct and support with the initial investigations, as necessary. To take the lead in the planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections. To take the lead in working alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services. Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice. Dedicated, reliability and flexible approach to work Essential Criteria Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). A minimum of 3+ years post qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience. Desirable Criteria Previous experience in a secure care provision.
