Virgin Media News is seeking a dynamic and experienced Producer for our flagship current affairs programme, The Tonight Show. The producer will be responsible for outputting live studio, booking guests, generating ideas for content, developing relationships with the presenter, guests, agencies and political parties, identifying new talent and understanding the dynamics of panel discussions.

Specific Duties & Tasks:

1. Generating ideas for topics and guests
2. Booking contributors for panel discussions & one-on-one interviews
3. Working within a team of producers and researchers in the preparation and management of high quality journalistic programming.
4. A commanding knowledge of both traditional and new television production
5. Monitor ratings and audience feedback and adapt to trends
6. Sourcing and posting digital news content from TV programmes to online platforms
7. Other newsroom duties as assigned by the Head of News

Skills & Expertise:

1. Extensive experience working in current affairs in television / radio.
2. Thorough knowledge of the Irish political landscape will also be required together with a command of national and international social, cultural, business and economic affairs.
3. A strong contacts book
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work under pressure as part of a busy team and meet deadlines
6. Ability to work flexible hours
7. Exceptional organisation skills
8. Knowledge of digital news production
