Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-renowned chartered accountancy firm with over 30 years of experience providing professional services to a diverse client base. The firm is highly respected in the industry, with clients ranging from sole traders and SMEs to larger businesses across multiple sectors.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Accounting Technician to support the delivery of client services within a busy Accounts Department. This is a permanent, full-time position offering flexibility, hybrid options, and excellent exposure to a wide variety of client industries.

Responsibilities

- Prepare working papers and financial statements in line with standards.
- Prepare management accounts for clients (quarterly/6 monthly).
- Complete and file VAT, VAT RTD, and RCT returns.
- Prepare draft year-end files.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Manage and resolve client queries effectively.
- Work independently or as part of a team to drive projects forward.
- Support other ad hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications & Skills

- 3+ years’ experience in a busy accountancy practice.
- Qualified Accounting Technician or IPASS certification.
- Strong technical knowledge of VAT, RCT, and compliance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel – intermediate+), Sage Accounts, and Accounts Production software (CCH or similar).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
