Shift Managers are responsible for the overall leadership, direction and coordination of Production employees. The Shift Manager will manage shift employees to achieve key business objectives of product quality, order fulfilment, OEE, labour efficiency, health and safety and budget control. The Shift Manager will also act as cover in the absence of the Plant manager and support the Plant Manager in Operations as appropriate. The West Cork Supply Point is a strategic spray drying factory within the division, being a major supplier of infant formula to other plants within the network MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND KPI'S Shift Management Lead the Shift Team to achieve production targets/KPIs Ensure the highest standards of product quality, integrity and hygiene Maintain excellent standards of Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Housekeeping Practice Monitor and control costs Ensure the safe working practices and conduct of the team, contractors and visitors Ensure that team are properly trained and managed to work in a safe, quality conscious and effective way Maintain positive working relationships and ensure effective communication at all levels Ensure all work areas and equipment within your control are regularly and properly maintained to deliver optimum performance Drive initiatives to maximise employee contribution and drive improvements in product quality and process/system efficiencies Liaise with QA & QC, logistics, technical and maintenance teams to achieve optimum results Responsible for Internal Controls as assigned to you by the Internal Controller Interface with HR in relation to employee performance/development and any employee relations issues Update relevant HR systems as required General Management The Shift Manager will be expected to cover for the Production Manager when absent and support the Production Manager in other areas of production Contribute to the overall department performance plan in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation and Environment Drive correct usage, maintenance and development of all production systems Functional COmpetencies Professional manager and leader with the highest standards of integrity Proactive mind-set, consistently seeks out continuous improvements Strong work ethic required with evident enthusiasm for the role A team player who can galvanise support for achieving key objectives Capable of taking the lead in change Requirement for versatility in difficult situations Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees Mature outlook and ability to manage stressful and challenging environments Good reporting, writing and numerical skills Clear thinking individual who can resolve issues on their feet with a decisive personality Clear communication of their objectives and motivation of staff PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years' experience in a management/supervisory role in the food manufacturing Industry is required Third level qualification in a related field is desirable SAP/MES/Scada experience highly desirable A strong understanding of Microsoft Office is required Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills All applications will be treated with the strictest of confidence.
