The European Investment Bank (EIB) is recruiting a trainee to support the Strategy, Risks & Processes Unit of the Human Resources Directorate (HR/COORD/SRP) based at its headquarters in Luxembourg.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st April 2026), with a possible extension of up to 6 months if required by the University.
Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union and from citizens of countries that have been officially granted candidate status to join the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine) will be considered. Applicants whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the traineeship will not be considered. Please limit your application to a maximum of three trainee publications; we will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

You will gain exposure to various HR functions and practical knowledge of process design, risk management, and control assessment, while developing transferrable skills such as organisation and communication.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal HR stakeholders to gather information on existing processes, update process documents (text descriptions, flowcharts, RACI matrices) as needed.
Run mini‑projects to improve processes: review the status quo, identify inefficiencies, and propose simpler steps with an implementation plan.
Support the team in compliance and operational risk assessment, test existing controls, draft controls to address identified gaps, and report key risk indicators under the Bank’s risk appetite framework.
Academic Qualifications & Professional Skills:
Final year of studies or University degree in Project Management, Business Management, or a related discipline such as process and organisational design.
Analytical thinking and structured approach.
Ability to manage project timelines and meet deadlines.
Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels and areas of expertise.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and, ideally, Visio.
Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
By applying for this position, you acknowledge the importance of maintaining the security and integrity of EIB Group information. You agree to comply with all measures implemented by the EIB Group to prevent unauthorized disclosure of information and to protect the Group’s reputation.
