Job Description In this role, you will assist with the procurement of major construction contracts for Elgin Energy’s project pipeline.
You will engage with our key suppliers through procurement processes and liaise with internal development, commercial, engineering, and construction colleagues to de-risk and advance our projects. You will coordinate with the wider project delivery team to support the development and delivery of Elgin Energy’s project pipeline to energisation by providing assistance throughout the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Your initial priority will be completing procurement processes for Elgin’s upcoming UK projects, but you will also gain exposure to projects in Ireland, Germany, and Italy.

To be successful in the role, you will have knowledge of renewable energy contract structures and supply chain, detailed knowledge of the components required for the AC and DC electrical design of solar PV plants, energy storage, and grid connection methodologies, as well as knowledge of Construction, Health & Safety, and Grid Code standards and legislation related to electrical systems.
What you will do:

Ensure all suppliers and contractors successfully complete Elgin’s prequalification process.
Take ownership of Elgin’s tender processes: develop tender documentation; act as a single point of contact for contractor communications; coordinate review of contractor proposals with the wider Elgin team; prepare evaluation reports and present these to management; assist during contract negotiations to reach a bankable agreement.
Support contract implementation during construction in coordination with project managers and the wider ECM team to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Support financial modelling with technical and commercial inputs, including capex and opex forecasting.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with contractors and suppliers, including regular commercial updates and technical workshops.
Stay updated on the latest technical industry developments and elaborate roadmaps of next-generation technologies; provide internal updates to incorporate these at the preliminary design stage.
Track commercial trends and provide internal guidance and updates.
Produce regular reports on supply chain developments.
Undertake site visits as required.
Your profile Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering or related discipline.
4-5+ years’ experience in renewable energy; experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or Battery Storage is advantageous.
Proven track record in procuring construction services and/or equipment for renewable projects, including utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, and grid connection infrastructure.
Experience negotiating infrastructure construction and supply equipment contracts preferred.
Proficient in written and verbal communication, resource management, and software, especially Microsoft Office.
Proactive, self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in teams.
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
