Mbryonics is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from advanced optical systems to photonic integrated circuits and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite and terrestrial communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and involves some of the most challenging engineering on the planet. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a motivated Test Engineer to join our group.

Role:

To become a key part of the wider engineering team and help deliver on Mbryonics’ testing goals underpinning optical communications telescopes.

1. To be self-motivated in order to deliver on testing campaigns such as TVAC for thermal cycling and thermal balance tests, and also Vibration tests.
2. To write up test plans and also to collate results of experiments/tests.
3. To design or liaise with mechanical engineers to build testing accompaniments such as adaptor plates, shrouds, GSE, packaging, etc.
4. To roll up the sleeves and actively carry out testing with in-house shakers, TVAC as well as prepare test setups for the same.
5. Implement continued development of engineering practices and procedures within a blossoming scale-up environment.
6. Develop novel solutions for, and improve on existing, test support systems through innovative approaches, creative inputs and by leveraging former experiences.
7. Rapidly iterate on process development and testing utilising a mixture of a hands-on approach and inform analytical modelling if needed, be proactive and consistently help to progress product development in a multidisciplinary environment.
8. Work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures and standards, with an ultimate goal of scaling up to high volume manufacturing.

Required Technical Skills/Education

1. 2+ years of any testing and test setups within a manufacturing or related engineering field experience
2. Some basic experience with a commercial CAD package.
3. Understanding of early stage prototyping and product development
4. Exposure to common testing processes for space including TVAC, Shock and Vibration testing equipment.

Desired Technical Skills/Education:

1. Familiarity of current testing environments and equipment for space launch and operations
2. Knowledge of or keen interest in the space sector would be an advantage.
3. Actively engaged in the field of engineering and continuous professional development.
4. Equally comfortable working on a task alone as collaborating as part of a team.
5. Not afraid to roll-up one's sleeves to be mission and deadline motivated.
6. Proven problem-solving abilities with a keen interest in becoming a key decision maker in Test engineering activities.
