The Opportunity As a Senior Analyst within our Future Power Markets function, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise with energy market principles, by working collaboratively across our business, and engaging with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders. You will develop key project management and analysis capabilities by carrying out analysis in relation to the implementation of new policies and procedures to ensure success in the future power market.
The Team The Future Power Markets team is responsible for providing thought leadership in relation to market changes needed to deliver renewable electricity targets and is responsible for delivering large programmes of work to deliver changes approved by regulatory authorities.
Current key projects include:
Future Arrangements for System Services: developing new arrangements for procurement of innovative System Services to facilitate operational change, enabling the power system to operate with higher levels of low-carbon technologies and supporting our 2030 renewables targets.
Scheduling and Dispatch: designing changes to core market and operational systems to implement treatment of non-priority dispatch renewables, improving wind dispatch, and updating the scheduling and dispatch process to incorporate energy storage, low-carbon inertia, reserves and system services from new technologies.
European Integration: since Brexit the all-island market is not integrated with the EU. Once the Celtic Interconnector goes live in 2026, we will be integrated again with the EU, requiring significant market changes.
SEM-GB: the SEM market is interconnected with the GB market. Work is ongoing to develop post-Brexit arrangements.
Competitive market transition to Net Zero: Support electricity policy development to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with CRU and DECC.
Capacity Market Development: Support development of the Capacity Market, in collaboration with industry, regulators and stakeholders.
Tariff Policy: Support development of new tariff arrangements and coordinate response to EU guidance on tariffication to reduce network charges.
About You Successful candidates will have:
Degree in engineering, business, economics or other relevant qualification with 4 years post-degree experience.
Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills.
Experience in drafting, writing and presenting technical and non-technical reports.
Strong communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Flexibility and agility to manage a wide range of issues at the same time.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
