OverviewJoin to apply for theInnealtóir Sinsearach Luaidh/ Senior Lead Engineer- Future Power Markets Design Authorityrole atEirGrid GroupClosing date for applications: 17/10/2025Background / AboutWe are the people behind Ireland's electricity grid.Our focus is on safety, security and reliability.Our work environment is challenging, fast-moving, collaborative and team oriented.Our culture is driven by performance, knowledge and continual development.We are transforming the power system for future generations.Job PurposeThe Future Power Markets team provides leadership on market changes needed to deliver renewable electricity targets and delivers major programmes to implement changes approved by regulatory authorities.Key projects include:Future Arrangements for System Services: developing new arrangements to procure innovative System Services to enable high levels of low carbon technologies and support **** renewable targets.Scheduling and Dispatch: design changes to core market and operational systems to treat non-priority dispatch renewables, improve wind dispatch, and update scheduling and dispatch to incorporate energy storage, low carbon inertia, and provision of reserves and services from new technologies.European Integration: post-Brexit, the all-island market will require re-integration with the EU with the Celtic Interconnector going live in ****.SEM-GB: post-Brexit arrangements for SEM-GB interoperability, monitoring and adjusting market structures.Competitive market transition to Net Zero: supporting electricity policy development toward **** net zero, in conjunction with CRU and DCEE.In addition to these projects, the team provides thought leadership and advice to support government targets of 80% RES-E by **** and market changes to deliver net carbon zero.This role offers a unique opportunity to work with world-leading experts on the transition to a secure, low-carbon energy future.Key ResponsibilitiesLead on Central & Market Arrangements and Readiness workstreams within varying programmes to ensure effective design and implementation within timelines.Plan and coordinate tasks and projects for junior team members; coordinate with senior team members; review work and support training as necessary.Collaborate with other workstream leads to ensure a coordinated approach to delivering Future Power Markets initiatives.Engage with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders; participate in workshops and meetings; prepare papers/submissions for regulators.Manage and coordinate external consultants.Provide expertise on SEM market arrangements; apply knowledge of SEM, Trading and Settlement Code, Grid Code and Balancing Market Principles to progress code modifications and implement solutions.Provide thought leadership and advocate best practices and industry principles.Work with other chief offices to progress initiatives within defined timelines.Maintain knowledge of SEM, EU legislation and regulatory requirements, with awareness of emerging trends.Demonstrate behaviours that support our culture and values.Represent Ireland's interests on EU Electricity Coordination Groups.Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Carry out other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssentialThird level degree in Engineering with a minimum of 6 years in power systems and electricity markets.Expert knowledge of SEM market arrangements, Trading and Settlement Code/Grid Code.Knowledge of SEM processes including generation, interconnection and grid technologies.Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.Project management proficiency.Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical and market concepts.Experience in writing and presenting technical reports.Strong organisational and commercial awareness with a track record of delivering improvements and change, including automation of routine tasks.Experience building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Flexibility to manage a wide range of issues.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.DesirableUnderstanding of Control Centre operations up to settlement.Familiarity with Grid Operations tools such as Market Management System, Dispatch Logger, and Energy Management System.Understanding of other electricity markets and System Services.Job RelationshipsReporting to the Head of the Future Power Markets Design Authority.Equality and InclusionWe are an equal opportunities employer.We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.Reasonable accommodations are offered at every stage of our recruitment process.Note: This refinement preserves the original content while presenting it in clean, accessible HTML using only allowed tags and structured sections.#J-*****-Ljbffr
