BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND - SOUTHERN REGION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. Applications are invited for the following post SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT REF: 60/2025 Permanent Full-Time (35 hours per week) Cork Services The Role The person appointed will be a member of the Finance team providing effective accounting support to the Head of Finance and to all stakeholders as required. The person appointed will be required to line manage a number of colleagues within the finance team and should have the ability to contribute positively to the ongoing development of colleagues within the finance team. The person appointed to the post will be required to take an active part in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Service reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services and that all co-workers are meeting the needs of the service users therein. The post holder will have the following qualifications, experience, skills and abilities: - The Candidate: Professional Qualifications, Experience etc. Eligible applicants will be those on the closing date for the competition: Must have obtained a Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Accounting or Business and be a member of an approved accountancy body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) Must have a minimum of three years' relevant experience Must have excellent skills in the use of MS Excel and be highly competent in Microsoft packages and accounting software Must have excellent numeracy, analytical, communication and organisational skills Have an appreciation of the needs and rights of people with intellectual disabilities Possession of a "B" class clean Irish Driving Licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads is essential Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. 3. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 4. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
