Desktop Support Engineer Location: Dublin 2 (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Contract: 6 Months (with potential for extension, subject to business needs) Day Rate: €240 per day Eligibility: Candidates must hold an Irish/EU passport or a valid work permit permitting full-time work in Ireland in order to be considered. Overview An experienced Desktop Support Engineer is required to join a well-established, international organisation operating within the agri-food sector. This is a hybrid contract role based in Dublin 2, offering the opportunity to provide hands-on technical support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day IT support to end users, ensuring that incidents and service requests are resolved efficiently and in line with agreed SLAs. This position involves both remote troubleshooting and onsite technical assistance. Key Responsibilities Provide first and second-level IT support to end users across desktop, laptop, mobile devices, and peripherals. Manage incidents and service requests in line with established SLAs, ensuring timely and accurate resolution. Log, track, and update support tickets through the IT service desk system. Escalate complex technical issues to higher-level teams when required. Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, applications, and security software. Support Microsoft 365 and collaboration tools including email, Teams, and SharePoint. Assist with account management including user provisioning, password resets, and access permissions in Active Directory. Maintain accurate asset and stock control records for IT equipment. Provide onsite support for meeting room technology, AV setups, and network connectivity. Contribute to documentation and knowledge base articles to improve support efficiency. Ensure adherence to IT security, compliance, and operational procedures. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience in desktop or IT support, ideally in a corporate environment. Strong technical skills across Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory. Good knowledge of networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, VPN, Wi-Fi troubleshooting). Experience supporting both onsite and remote users. Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users. Excellent problem-solving and incident management skills. Eligible to work full time in Ireland (Irish/EU passport or valid work permit). Desirable Skills Experience with conferencing and collaboration platforms Exposure to IT asset management and service desk tools. Knowledge of ITIL practices.
