Role Overview

As a Senior Grade Occupational Therapist, you will take a leading role in providing a comprehensive range of occupational therapy services to children and young people (0–18 years) and their families. Working within a dynamic interdisciplinary framework, you will deliver expert assessments and interventions through a family-centred approach. You will take a leadership role in service development, provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff, and work collaboratively across clinic, home, school, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and manage a complex caseload, providing expert assessments and interventions.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff grade Occupational Therapists and students.
- Take a lead role in service planning, innovation, and development within the occupational therapy discipline.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and facilitate the professional development of junior staff members.
- Work collaboratively with families and other agencies to ensure integrated, evidence-based care.
- Represent the occupational therapy profession at internal and external meetings.
- Act as a mandated person under the Children First National Guidelines, upholding the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria:

- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

- Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

- Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

AND

- Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
- On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

- Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland.

Desirable Criteria:

- Minimum 1 year post qualification experience of working with families and children with a range of physical disabilities/developmental delays.
- Experience of working with children 0 – 18 years and their families.
- Experience and/or training in clinical supervision.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a children’s disability service.
- Experience of multi/interdisciplinary team working.
- Experience of supervising students/therapy assistants.
