Senior Project Engineer – Equipment

The individual in this role will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of site capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with project management best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Project Ownership: Lead and manage equipment projects, including initiation, design, resource and budget allocation, and development of comprehensive project plans for complex initiatives.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards: Integrate health, safety, and environmental best practices into project designs; ensure all work is completed in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
- Capital Expenditure Management: Prepare capital expenditure requests and cost estimates, while closely monitoring project budgets and expenditures.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed specifications, drawings, procedures, and tender documents for project execution.
- Equipment Installation: Oversee the installation and upgrades of process equipment.
- Contractor Supervision: Manage contractors involved in project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
- Operational Integration: Ensure minimal disruption to operations and seamless integration of projects into functional areas.
- Process Improvement: Support and drive the implementation of best practices, technical standards, and procedural improvements.
- Problem Solving: Apply scientific and engineering principles to deliver effective and innovative solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Consult, influence, and communicate decisions with middle and senior management independently.
- Strategic Decision-Making: Employ a business-oriented mindset to make strategic decisions that align with site objectives while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Represent the function on cross-functional projects and initiatives, fostering collaborative solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Challenge existing methods and propose enhancements to improve departmental performance.
- Team Leadership: Facilitate open discussions across project teams, including cross-functional and external stakeholders.
- Technical Leadership: Act as the technical/project leader for assigned site projects, ensuring team competency development and the adoption of efficient work practices.
- Communication Excellence: Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, showcasing strong verbal and written communication skills, empathy, and active listening.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical) or equivalent, with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- Project Management Certification: PMP or similar certification is an advantage.
- Pharmaceutical Equipment Expertise: Experience in the design, procurement, and installation of pharmaceutical process equipment.
- Specialized Equipment Experience: Familiarity with Drug Product, Filling, OSD Equipment, Medical Device Equipment, or Packaging Equipment is advantageous.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to apply engineering and scientific methodologies to solve complex problems effectively.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Teamwork & Initiative: Capable of working independently and as part of a team, articulating and delivering functional requirements for all project aspects. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams is essential.
