Marino Institute of Education (MIE) wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and dynamic Student Recruitment Officer to promote MIEs undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The person appointed must exhibit evidence of a strong commitment to developing and enhancing the reputation of MIE, to successfully represent MIE at external careers events, and to build relationships with schools and universities, guidance counsellors and potential students and their families. The appointee will have a specific outreach role but will need to develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Applications that have not clearly demonstrated that candidates possess the essential requirements will not be shortlisted): In order to be considered for this post, applicants will require: Qualifications and Experience An appropriate degree level qualification Experience in outreach/communications roles Excellent communication skills Fluency in Irish minimum B1 competence on the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR). A full, clean drivers licence. Skills and Competencies Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Excellent technology skills and an understanding of information technology and social media as drivers of student recruitment A high standard of energy and enthusiasm with creative ideas about student recruitment Capability to work independently on their own initiative and as part of a team Excellent organisational skills, including the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively and meet strict deadlines Proficiency in documenting and maintaining precise and accurate records Ability to operate flexibly within a busy office and be prepared to shift focus as necessary Interest in higher education and knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by Marino Institute of Education. Candidates must clearly indicate in their applications how they meet each of these pre-requisites. 2.JOB DESCRIPTION Duties and Responsibilities Promoting awareness of the Institute Represent MIE at internal and external fairs and events such as Higher Options, Institute of Guidance Counsellors conferences, Options West, open days, information evenings etc. promoting all undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Offer in-person and virtual presentations for schools, visiting Gaelscoileanna/ Gaelcholist as well as English-medium schools. Create interactive material for use in external venues, including video content featuring students talking about their experiences of MIE. Communicate with prospective students, guidance counsellors and parents in response to queries via email/phone Follow-up on queries to develop a relationship with potential students. Administration Develop a recruitment, communications and social media calendar Respond, as appropriate, to social media messages, especially enquiries and comments Working closely with other functional areas on relevant cross-organisational projects. General administration, office and other operational duties as required File and archive documents electronically and in hard copy Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings and other relevant meetings Organise online information sessions for MIE programmes including Masters courses. In each work area/department within the Institute, the appointee must work as part of a team. Although duties pertaining to the post are broadly defined under the various headings as listed, the list of duties is not exhaustive. The appointee will be required to function in a flexible and collegial manner and in light of internal policies and relevant legislation. MIE retains the right to assign new duties and/or to re-assign staff to other areas of the Institute, in response to service needs. 3. APPLICATION, SELECTION PROCESS AND OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION. Method of Selection for Recommendation A shortlisting of applicants will occur which will be based on the applicants qualifications, suitability and relevant work experience as detailed in the application. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all relevant information is included in their application and that they clearly identify how they meet the specified candidate criteria. Interview will be by interview panel consisting of not fewer than 3 persons and will comprise of the most suitable and qualified people to assess applicants in the discipline. All appointments to employment at MIE are made by the Governing Body. The interview panels recommendations for appointment of successful applicants for all posts will be submitted to the MIE Governing Body for their consideration and decision. In the event that a recommendation for permanent appointment is not made by the interview panel, the Institute reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate, identified through the selection process, to the post on a fixed term basis. Candidates must produce satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience claimed by them, if required. Probationary Period The appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 3-month probationary period. The probationary period may be extended at the discretion of the Institute. Absences during the period of probation will extend the probationary period. Performance and conduct during the probationary period will be monitored through a process of assessment meetings. Termination of employment during the probationary period will be at the discretion of the Institute. An abridged version of the disciplinary procedure will apply to employees on probation. Garda Vetting All successful applicants may be required to participate in Garda vetting. Specific instruction on this process will be given at the appropriate time. Applicants who do not comply with the Institutes requirements in this regard will be excluded from consideration for appointment.
