Job Overview KennCo Underwriting, one of Irelands largest MGAs,is seeking a trainee Risk & Pricing Analyst to join their organisation. This position will sit in the Data and Products team in a busy IT Department, working closely with the Pricing Actuary, Data team and Board of Directors. The successful candidate will split their time across various projects aimed at generating datasets, analysing data, looking for trends, market analysis, data patterns, profiling business, generating Ultimate Loss Ratios, achieving company profitability, helping to set product pricing and rates and defining technical prices across multiple lines of business. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated with a strong can-do attitude. The ability to adapt quickly to a fast paced environment is essential. Experience in a product and pricing role in the Insurance industry or Financial Services industry is a clear advantage. Responsibilities Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Work closely with key stakeholders to extract data, develop and refine product and pricing propositions to meet internal and external requirements Provide technical pricing support and analysis for key business projects Support the preparation of strategic business case analysis to understand and achieve a desirable balance of growth/profitability Assist in the determination of suitable premiums for new products to facilitate entry into new markets Provide comprehensive analysis to enable the Company to develop a deep understanding of new and emerging trends/markets Communication and presentation of results of analysis to senior management and various stakeholders Working with a data report analyst in the development of reports to further automate dissemination of information across business teams Operation of pricing software, feeding data to understand trends and patterns and highlighting or identifying areas of interest Manage the accurate and timely implementation, testing and validation of premium rate structures on policy administration and quotation systems Ensure appropriate controls, policies and documentation are maintained to ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements are satisfied Perform ad-hoc actuarial investigations into adverse trends. Constant monitoring of emerging market trends in the areas of Non-Life Insurance and feeding back analysis on investigations to help target products and rate Requirements The successful candidate for this position will need to have the following skills/ experience: Relevant 3rd Level Degree (Statistics / Mathematics /Science) Experience in the Insurance and financial services industry a distinct advantage Experience of SQL to extract relevant data from large databases Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complicated processes and concepts to non-experts Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills Ability to liaise with and coordinate efforts of both those with whom there is and is not a direct reporting relationship Ability to work independently and resolve complex problems without direct supervision. Prior experience in a pricing or product development role is desirable Software Skills: Strong ICT skills SQL a distinct advantage Role: Immediate Start, Permanent, full time
