We're looking for 3 x Senior Data Engineers to join a dedicated squad maintaining and supporting legacy data systems while helping transition assets to modern platforms on a 12 month contract.
The role is heavily focused on SQL development, ETL/ELT pipeline management, and data warehousing best practices.
Experience with tools like GCP BigQuery, Fivetran, Monte Carlo, and dbt is crucial, as these form a core part of the existing data stack.
Key Responsibilities Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud-based environment.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across replication and transformation workflows.
Ensure efficient data integration from multiple source systems.
Data Warehousing & Modelling Design and maintain scalable star schema and dimensional models.
Apply best practices in data quality assurance and governance.
Maintain critical legacy financial and customer reporting datasets to ensure continuity.
Stack-Specific Work Work directly with Fivetran for data ingestion and pipeline automation.
Use dbt (core/cloud) for transformations, testing, and documentation.
Partner with BI Analysts to repoint Looker dashboards to updated sources.
Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer Work closely with internal data engineering and BI teams to ensure smooth handovers.
Document workflows, transformations, and data quality checks for transparency.
Skills & Experience Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud environment.
Deep knowledge of data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modelling, slowly changing dimensions, etc.).
Strong track record in data quality assurance and maintaining reliable pipelines.
Hands-on experience with Fivetran and dbt (or similar tools).
Comfortable collaborating with BI teams and supporting reporting migrations.
Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
Ideal Candidate Profile 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a clear focus on SQL, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.
A detail-oriented engineer who can maintain stability in legacy systems while enabling the business to modernize.
Proactive communicator, able to work with both technical colleagues and business users.
This is a Mid-Senior level Contract position in the Technology, Information and Media, Data Infrastructure and Analytics, and IT System Data Services industries.
