Devops Engineer III, Amazon Pay

The role offers an opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges, work with diverse customers worldwide, and engage in a dynamic, varied work environment. You will be required to deeply understand the technology landscape and evaluate the use of new technologies. As an influential member of the team, you will collaborate with peers and senior leaders to define and refine the standards for operational excellence across Amazon Pay. You will consistently address abstract issues spanning multiple functional areas, driving your team to pursue scalable improvements across other teams, services, and platforms.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. You have a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
2. You maintain SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting.
3. You can set up and configure monitors to prevent prolonged outages.
4. You have a basic understanding of operating system administration.
5. You write and review accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
6. Able to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
7. You proactively and continually improve your level of knowledge about Amazon’s business and relevant technologies.
8. You regularly work across multiple teams to resolve issues.
9. You strive to improve the customer experience by resolving issues completely and in a timely fashion.
10. You persistently drive others to discover and resolve root causes when needed.
11. You communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with your team and with other groups. You listen effectively.
12. You embrace our leadership principles.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience.
- Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Experience scripting in one or more languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
- Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID.
- Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON.
