Now, as we enter our next phase of rapid growth - launching new technology, expanding our customer base, and scaling our funding capacity we are seeking a Head of Credit & Risk to shape our credit strategy, safeguard our portfolio, and strengthen our risk culture.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of Financefair. You’ll own our end-to-end credit risk framework - covering underwriting, monitoring, policy, and portfolio management while driving continuous improvement in our decisioning tools and processes, including automation and advanced analytics.

You’ll be a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, ensuring we deliver high‑quality, commercially sound credit decisions that balance growth with robust risk discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Credit & Portfolio Management

- Lead the credit evaluation process for SME funding applications across multiple products.

- Underwrite complex transactions, applying sound judgement and commercial acumen.

- Approve or recommend credit applications within delegated authority and product eligibility.

- Monitor and report on portfolio performance, conducting stress tests and trend analysis.

- Identify, monitor, and manage “watchlist” accounts, and handle restructuring or forbearance cases.

Risk Strategy & Policy

- Develop and maintain credit policies, processes, and risk appetite statements.

- Proactively identify emerging risks and implement mitigating strategies.

- Partner with product and technology teams to integrate risk functionality into new offerings.

Leadership & Culture

- Expand, coach, and develop a small team of credit analysts.

- Foster a culture of accountability, commercial awareness, and continuous improvement.

- Act as a visible leader for risk discipline in a high growth fintech environment.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Collaborate with Funding, Sales, Customer Success, and Trading teams to align growth and risk objectives.

- Engage with institutional funders to communicate credit strategy, portfolio performance, and underwriting standards.

- Negotiate credit terms and conditions with funders and customers.

Technology & Innovation

- Leverage fintech tools, alternative data, and automation to enhance credit assessment.

- Champion innovation in underwriting and portfolio monitoring processes.

About You

- Experience:10+ years in senior credit roles within corporate lending, investment banking, alternative lending, or similar.

- Expertise:Proven track record in underwriting, portfolio management, and SME credit risk—ideally with experience in receivables finance or transactional risk.

- Leadership:Strong people leadership skills and the ability to instil a disciplined risk culture in a scaling organisation.

- Commercial Mindset:Ability to balance risk discipline with growth ambition.

- Innovation:Experience shaping credit processes and functionality in partnership with technology teams.

- Influence:Strong communication and negotiation skills, with experience engaging institutional funders.

- Resilience:Thrives in a high-change, fast-moving environment.

- Development finance underwriting experience is an advantage.
