Working Pattern: 12-month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available The role We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to take on a 12-month fixed term contract as Head of Sustainability for the Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) business. This is a pivotal role that will drive forward our sustainability agenda, ensuring alignment with the broader business goals and stakeholder expectations. Sitting within the Marketing team, this role is key to ensuring sustainability is authentically embedded in our brand narrative, customer propositions, and communications. You will Lead and embed ECS's sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with Group priorities and integration across the business and key stakeholders. Be responsible for improving sustainability performance, reducing risk, and identifying opportunities across the business unit, supply chain, and wider stakeholder network. Own ECS sustainability governance and reporting, including leading the Sustainability Committee and contributing to internal and external group reports (e.g. annual sustainability report, human rights report, investor reporting). Build and foster excellent relationships, where relevant and appropriate, with government, statutory bodies, and industry specialists, to ensure SSE is at the forefront of advances in sustainability in the context of the ECS market. Enhance ECS's sustainability value proposition by identifying and articulating opportunities to create meaningful impact for customers, communities, and the business. You have Exceptional stakeholder management skills - able to build trust, influence, and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders. Strong leadership and organisational capabilities - confident in setting direction, managing complexity, and driving delivery. A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into action. A passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact. Technical knowledge or experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental management, or equivalent value.
