Innovation is the oxygen of our company, and in 2023, we invested more than US$850 million in research and development (R&D). We’re now opening a new Research & Development Centre in Cork, Ireland focused on designing software for the company’s comprehensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio, with plans for expansion across other technologies in the future.

Job Description

You will be the principal authority in designing and implementing comprehensive test approaches, ensuring compliance with complex product specifications, and driving the resolution of critical defects. Your deep technical expertise and leadership will be essential in mentoring and elevating the capabilities of both manual and automated testing teams, preventing issues from impacting our end-users.

The ideal candidate will possess an extensive background in diverse programming languages, a meticulous eye for detail, and a proven track record of architectural leadership in software quality. You'll be expected to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in all aspects of software testing.

Responsibilities:

Define and champion the overall test strategy and architecture for complex software systems, aligning with business objectives and product roadmaps.
Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks across various platforms and technologies.
Architect comprehensive test environments and data management strategies to support diverse testing needs.
Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of cutting-edge testing tools and technologies.
Provide expert guidance and technical leadership to multiple test teams, including manual, automation, and performance testers.
Drive the adoption of best practices in test design, execution, defect management, and reporting.
Collaborate strategically with product management, development leads, and other architects to embed quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
Define and implement metrics and KPIs to measure test effectiveness, efficiency, and product quality.
Act as a subject matter expert on testing methodologies, patterns, and industry trends, continuously advancing our testing capabilities.
Mentor and develop senior and lead testers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Conduct architectural reviews of test solutions and provide recommendations for optimization and innovation.
Support the Test Manager and leadership in defining and achieving long-term strategic goals for the entire Test organization.

Basic Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
12-15 years of significant, progressive experience in Quality Assurance testing, with a strong emphasis on test architecture, strategy, and framework development.
Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing advanced test automation frameworks using various tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, Go).
In-depth working knowledge of test management and defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM Octane).
Proven ability to define and implement enterprise-level testing strategies including functional, performance, security, and usability testing.
Extensive experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Exceptional analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to dissect complex system architectures.
Superior communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong leadership qualities with a track record of mentoring and inspiring high-performing technical teams.
Deep understanding of various software architectures (e.g., microservices, cloud-native applications, monolithic systems) and their impact on testing strategies.
