Job Description Dunnes Stores is Ireland's leading retailer and one of the country's most recognised brands. Behind the scenes, we're modernising how our business connects, building a robust, secure and scalable network that supports our stores, distribution centres, online operations and head office functions. We're investing heavily in technology and infrastructure to create a more agile, data-driven, and digitally enabled retail environment. As part of this transformation, we're hiring a Senior Network Engineer to strengthen and evolve the enterprise network that underpins how over 135 sites communicate every day. The Opportunity This is a senior, hands-on technical role within our core infrastructure team. You'll be responsible for maintaining, securing, and evolving a network that spans retail, distribution, and corporate environments. From critical incident response and performance tuning, to implementing major upgrades and supporting new cloud and security integrations, you'll play a key role in ensuring Dunnes Stores remains connected and operational 24/7. It's a role for an engineer who takes pride in precision and resilience - someone who enjoys solving complex challenges across legacy and modern systems, and wants to be part of a business in the middle of genuine technology change. Key Responsibilities Own the diagnosis and resolution of complex network incidents across a large multi-site environment. Manage connectivity across data centre, cloud, corporate and retail networks, ensuring stability and security. Support the integration of on-prem systems with cloud platforms such as Azure and hosted third-party applications. Maintain strong network hygiene Monitor and enhance performance and availability using enterprise tools (e.g. CISCO Catalyst Centre, SolarWinds and 3rd part tools), ensuring issues are identified and addressed proactively. Collaborate with internal teams, including security, architects, engineers and project teams and external providers to identify and deliver network operational improvements and contribute to future design planning. Define best practices for supporting recommended solutions. What We're Looking For 5+ years' experience in enterprise-scale network engineering. Deep hands-on knowledge of Cisco technologies (switching, routing, wireless, security). Exposure to multi-vendor environments such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, HP, or similar. Experience across multiple domains: Data Centre (ACI), WAN (MPLS / SD-WAN), Wireless Controllers, LAN, and Firewalls. Understanding of hybrid cloud networking - ideally with Azure, though AWS or Google Cloud also relevant. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team. Flexibility for out-of-hours or weekend work during go-lives, triage or hyper-care phases. CCNP Enterprise or above Advantageous: On track to CCIE level. Familiarity with Cisco ACI, automation or scripting, and network performance optimisation. Why Join Dunnes Stores Be part of one of Ireland's largest digital and infrastructure transformations. Work on high-impact projects with tangible results across a nationwide network. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including employee discount. Opportunities for career progression and professional development. A collaborative and technically capable team environment where ownership and initiative are valued. Equal Opportunities Dunnes Stores is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
