Commercial Finance Analyst

The Commercial Finance function plays a key role in ensuring the business maintains a strong commercial focus by managing large customer accounts, fostering relationships with the regulatory body and other stakeholders, overseeing Trading and Settlements, Demand Planning, Tariff Setting, and Price Control Reviews. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Analyst, this role involves utilizing financial models to generate revenue and tariff insights, as well as preparing reports, papers, and presentations for approval.

Duties:

1. Monitor and ensure compliance with ROI contracts.
2. Prepare annual ROI regulated revenue and tariff submissions for the energy regulator.
3. Support the regulatory reporting process for tariffs.
4. Develop and maintain tariff and revenue models, conducting financial analysis as part of price control reviews.
5. Evaluate and present commercial initiatives, assessing their financial impact on tariffs.
6. Participate in ENTSOG tariff working groups and analyze the impact of EU directives on tariff structures in ROI.
7. Analyze and draft responses to industry consultations at both national and European levels.
8. Design and develop transportation tariff structures for the Irish market, including those for Biomethane, Hydrogen, and CNG.
9. Prepare revenue projections for both regulated and unregulated revenue streams, including the GNI(UK) and Northern Ireland businesses.
10. Calculate revenues to be invoiced under unregulated contracts, covering businesses such as GNI(UK), PTL, Corrib, IOM, and EPS.

Requirements:

1. A third-level degree in Business, Finance, or Economics and/or a professional accounting qualification is essential.
2. 3–5 years of experience, ideally in the energy industry, with an understanding of the regulatory environment in Ireland.
3. Proven financial and numerical modeling skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build macros, are essential.
4. A collaborative mindset with a focus on sharing knowledge and improving results.
5. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively influence others.
6. An adaptable approach to change, paired with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
7. A commitment to learning and fostering the development of new skills in yourself and others.
