Dublin Pike, Ireland National Broadband Ireland Full time

Senior Release DevOps Engineer @ National Broadband Ireland
We’re National Broadband Ireland and we’re delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We’re designing, building and operating Ireland’s new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country’s broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.

The NBI™ network uses a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment to deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 569,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities
The role supports a wider agile team to deliver change in support of large development programmes. It focuses on end-to-end automation and orchestration, creating new systems and processes to automate release activity and reporting. The engineer will drive their own strategic vision on Continuous Integration and Delivery in a pure cloud context.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy software and systems updates to different environments (dev, test, prod) using automation tools to track tasks and outcomes.

Provide administrative support in AWS cloud accounts, including monitoring and alerting, defining roles and permissions, and advising on cost considerations and opportunities to reduce runtime cost.

Own key tools and services for managing DevOps activities and systems, including GIT, Ansible, Jenkins, CICD Release Orchestration and Deployment Automation tools.

Support colleagues developing and enhancing automated test frameworks and quality proofing systems.

Develop automation solutions for AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Cognito, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, RDS & Aurora, SQS, CloudWatch).

Maintain appropriate security compliance in NBI environments as agreed with Information Security Requirements.

Perform maintenance requests in the environments as part of continuous delivery of new functionality and services.

Work with the Release Coordinator to develop release runbook sequence of events, ensuring deployment dependencies are met.

Collaborate with the Release and Change Manager and Operations Incident Manager on emergency or high‑priority unscheduled release and deployment tasks.

Attend POD meetings and represent the Release DevOps team workload in delivering planned incremental programme updates.

Adhere to and champion all IT policies, best practices and standards.
