Your Role

As anAssistant Design Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating the design process across exciting and complex construction projects. Reporting to the Project Lead or Senior Design Manager (depending on project scale), you'll be the vital link between consultants, suppliers, and internal teams—ensuring seamless collaboration and design excellence from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

- Take ownership of design-related elements during thetender and pre-construction phases
- Support the selection and management of thedesign team, including consultants and specialist subcontractors
- Ensuretimely deliveryof design information aligned with programme and budget requirements
- Collaborate closely with theM&E Coordinatorto ensure full integration of building and services
- Mentor and supportDesign Coordinatorsduring the construction phase
- Ensure compliance withstatutory design regulations, planning permissions, and building control
- Contribute tocost meetingsand ensure design aligns with commercial objectives
- Use digital tools such asBIM, CAD, Viewpoint (4Projects), and Microsoft Office to manage and communicate design information

Experience

What You Bring

- A degree inConstruction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related design discipline
- Experience supportingpre-construction and construction phaseson large-scale projects
- Strong understanding ofprocurement routes,contract types, andbuilding regulations
- Commercial awareness and a collaborative mindset
- Familiarity withBREEAM,CDM regulations, andprogramming software
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication skills
