About the team
One of the key drivers to our success is a committed and rigorous emphasis on our people. We believe that our competitive advantage lies in our talent and that we can build a sustainable advantage by attracting, enabling and cultivating the world's most exceptional people to do the very best work of their careers.
Stripe is seeking a People Specialist Manager to join our global team in Dublin, Ireland. In this regional role supporting EMEA and APAC, the People Specialist Manager will serve as both a leader and coach for the People Specialist (PS) team, enabling and supporting managers at Stripe to build and lead successful teams. This individual will bring operational rigor and HR expertise to effectively balance day-to-day operations and service delivery with the growth and development of the team. The People Specialist Manager will guide the PS team in leveraging policies, research, insights, and cross-functional partnerships—such as those with HR Compliance and Employee Relations—to coach managers and ensure meaningful, fair, effective, and compliant experiences for all Stripes.
What you'll do
As a People Specialist Manager, you'll help make Stripe a great place to work and grow. You'll work with Stripe's business leaders, managers, and employees across EMEA and APAC to strategize and implement systems, processes, and programs to help people succeed while managing a team of regionally distributed People Specialists across EMEA and APAC.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Lead a High-Performing Team: Build, cultivate and lead a regionally-distributed team of People Specialists across EMEA and APAC, ensuring high performance and collaboration while providing support, coaching, and problem-solving assistance.
- Model Stripe's Values: Exemplify Stripe's Operating Principles of users first and moving with urgency and focus. Serve as a role model and coach for the team. Lead with empathy to foster a culture of humility, optimism, belonging, and inclusivity.
- Partner with Front-Line Managers: Partner with People Specialists to provide guidance and support to front-line managers on escalated people-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, and team effectiveness.
- Advise on People Policies: Consult with front-line management on Stripe's People policies and best practices, collaborating with fellow People team members and legal counsel as needed.
- Improve HR Processes: Lead and participate in projects in service of Stripe's ongoing HR transformation, including service delivery models and operational excellence. Identify opportunities to enhance HR processes and collaborate with cross-functional partner teams to implement.
- Facilitate Program Rollouts: Ensure the smooth implementation of key People programs, offering support for performance review cycles, compensation cycles, employee engagement surveys, and other ad hoc programs.
- Analyze Key Insights: Assess and present insights on support trends to People team leaders while managing the tracking and reporting of key people data to inform team strategy.
- Enhance Employee Experience: Ensure a positive employee experience throughout key life cycle stages, including the departure process.
- Strategize with Leadership: Work directly with People Partners (HRBPs), People team managers, and COE leadership to align on broader organizational strategies and initiatives.
- Ensure Compliance: Collaborate with HR Compliance, legal counsel and external specialists to ensure Stripe's compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations, such as wage regulations and equal employment opportunity laws.
- Identify Themes and Trends: Work closely with the team lead to identify key themes and trends, suggesting insights and recommendations for improvement.
Who you are
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
- 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in a client-facing HR role (e.g., HR generalist, HR Business Partner, Employee Relations partner), or equivalent experience in a business-facing role.
- Experience managing and leading teams, with an ability to coach, advise and unblock your direct reports.
- Direct Manager Support: Experience partnering with managers on performance management, employee relations, and team culture.
- Program Rollout: Experience supporting managers during the rollout of company-wide HR programs including performance reviews, compensation planning, and talent reviews.
- Policy Application: Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying HR policy in a geographically distributed workforce.
- International Employment Practices: Working knowledge of employment legislation and practices in multiple countries in EMEA and APAC, including Ireland, Romania, India, and Singapore.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to diagnose problems using data and develop viable solutions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Operations Management: Experience using case management tooling, making data-informed decisions, and balancing day to day client needs with operational excellence, including adherence to SLAs and quality targets.
- Fast-Paced Environment: Experience working in a rapidly growing technology company or large organization.
- Frontline Manager Support: Experience supporting managers in both tech and non-tech functions.
- International Employment Practices: Knowledge of employment legislation and practices in additional countries across EMEA and APAC, such as the UK and Australia.
- Training Facilitation: Experience in developing training materials and conducting employee workshops.
- Project Management: Proven project management skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively and deliver work on schedule.
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
