Overview Trainee Pricing Actuary – General Insurance – Dublin, Ireland. Aviva is hiring for a Trainee Actuary to join the Personal Lines Pricing & Trading team. You will develop your actuarial career through exposure to pricing, forecasting, and trading performance activities. You will support the Trading & Performance Manager and collaborate with colleagues across Pricing, Underwriting and Finance to influence business decisions and drive performance across our Personal Lines portfolio.
What will be your duties & responsibilities? Monitoring trading performance, analysing trends in risk mix, volumes, and profitability.
Using findings to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business, including tailoring market rates to maximise performance.
Supporting quarterly valuation mix inputs through data preparation, validation, and analysis to inform actuarial models.
Assisting with quarterly forecasting by running and refining trading models, ensuring assumptions and outputs are aligned with business plans.
Contributing to ad-hoc pricing and trading projects, supporting initiatives to improve performance and profitability.
Developing skills in industry-standard tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Radar where appropriate).
What skills & experience are we looking for? Previous experience in General Insurance Pricing, ideally in Motor or Home.
Part-qualified actuary (IFoA or equivalent) and progressing with exams.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Curious mindset with ability to explain the story behind the numbers.
Experience with SQL is desirable; familiarity with Radar or Emblem is beneficial.
Strong communication skills to present findings and influence stakeholders.
