About the Employer:

South Dublin County Council is one of four local authorities in the Dublin region. About the Role:

This is a great opportunity to join a Local Authority at a time of transformation and innovation. The Senior Executive Engineer will be responsible for the efficient management of staff and the work programme of the directorate/department and function to which they are assigned. Managers at this level work within defined parameters relevant to the position, in accordance with the Local Authority’s vision and objectives as set out in its Corporate Plan. Delivery of efficient services and value for money is crucial.

Lead a team or teams and provide technical and managerial support across all local authority service areas.

Liaise with external agencies and support the democratic process.

Work closely with the Senior Management Team and Elected Members to deliver the full range of services, implement local policy decisions and deliver on strategic corporate objectives.

Deputise for the Senior Engineer if required.

About You:

Hold an honours bachelor’s degree (level 8 NFQ) in Engineering accredited at CEng or CEng with FL level by Engineers Ireland*;

OR hold an ordinary bachelor’s degree (level 7 NFQ) in Engineering AND a post‑graduate masters degree (level 9 NFQ) in Engineering;

OR hold a masters degree (level 9 NFQ) in Engineering attained after completing an integrated masters level programme of at least four years and accredited at CEng level by Engineers Ireland or an equivalent accreditation body internationally;

OR have achieved the registered professional title of Chartered Engineer and be registered on the Register of Chartered Engineers of Engineers Ireland or of a professional institute of another country recognised by Engineers Ireland as of equivalent status.

Have at least seven years satisfactory relevant experience of engineering work.

Possess a high standard of technical training and experience.

Possess a high standard of administrative and management experience.

Have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
