Dublin, Ireland Dogs Trust Ireland Full time

Team: Veterinary | Location: Dublin Rehoming Centre | Full-time, Permanent

Are you a compassionate, proactive Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, emotionally meaningful environment?

At Dogs Trust, every procedure carried out, every health check completed, and every conversation had helps ensure the dogs in our care receive the very best veterinary treatment on their journey to finding a loving home. As our new Veterinary Nurse, you’ll bring your clinical expertise, attention to detail, and love of dogs to ensure our veterinary suite runs smoothly, our dogs stay healthy, and our adopters receive excellent support and guidance.

What you'll be doing:

- Oversee the day-to-day running of our veterinary suite, ensuring it operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards
- Provide hands‑on clinical care and support for dogs across the centre, collaborating with the behaviour and management teams to ensure patient welfare
- Support the veterinary surgeon in consultations and surgical procedures, while maintaining accurate clinical records and handling medication dispensing
- Liaise with the Veterinary & Welfare Manager and attending vet to guide rehoming and medical decisions based on individual dog needs
- Schedule appointments, manage records and invoicing, and complete administrative tasks with diligence and attention to detail
- Offer expert advice and compassionate support to adopters before and after adoption, providing reassurance, clarity, and care

What We’re Looking For:

- Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy clinical setting
- Organised, detail‑oriented, and confident managing both clinical and administrative responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills, both with team members and the public
- Emotionally resilient and calm under pressure – able to work compassionately in a welfare‑focused environment
- Proactive, flexible, and a strong team player with sound judgement
- Strong IT and record‑keeping skills, comfortable using Microsoft 365 and clinical software
Passionate about dog welfare, with a solid understanding of canine health and behaviour
- Experience in a shelter medicine or charity environment
- A full clean driving licence

Why Join Us?

- A role with true impact, where every decision and treatment helps change a dog’s life
- The chance to work alongside a passionate, supportive, and highly skilled team
- Experience in one of Ireland’s most respected animal welfare organisations
- The chance to help dogs find the loving homes they deserve

Ready to make a difference with your nursing skills and compassion?
