Senior Design Manager (Dublin) A Senior Design Manager is required by a leading civil and utilities contractor to support the delivery of the BusConnects programme across Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design professional to join a high-profile infrastructure project focused on transforming public transport, active travel routes, and key urban corridors throughout the city. The successful Senior Design Manager will play a central role in coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, managing consultants, ensuring technical compliance, and supporting the delivery of complex civils and transport design packages. This role is ideally suited to a design specialist with strong experience in highways, utilities, or large-scale urban infrastructure projects. Duties: Lead and coordinate the design development for multiple BusConnects work packages. Manage multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, traffic, and utilities designers. Oversee design programmes, deliverables, reviews, and technical approvals. Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, and project stakeholders to address design queries. Ensure compliance with BusConnects standards, TII requirements, statutory approvals, and planning conditions. Identify and manage design risks, constraints, and opportunities for value engineering. Coordinate design interfaces with utilities diversions, traffic management, bus priority measures, and active travel infrastructure. Manage design submissions, document control, and technical query logs. Support constructability reviews and collaborate closely with construction teams. Prepare design progress reports for senior management and key stakeholders. Requirements: Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 8+ years experience in design management for major civil, transport, or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of TII standards, Irish roads/transport design guidance, and planning processes. Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants. Proven track record delivering complex design packages on urban or utilities-heavy projects. Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design management platforms. Experience on public transport or urban mobility projects is a distinct advantage.
