Amazon's People eXperience and Technology (PXT) organization is seeking a Software Development Manager to spearhead the development of our innovative Connected Talent Management (CTM) product. CTM is a pivotal strategic initiative designed to foster career growth for our global operations associates.

The platform will be seamlessly integrated into the existing Amazon A to Z ecosystem, providing a user-friendly interface for both mobile and web users. Behind the scenes, CTM will be powered by a sophisticated back-end service stack, featuring an administrative interface that allows managers and HR professionals to create labor plans aligned with business demands, manage opportunity matching, and oversee associated talent development initiatives.

This role presents a unique opportunity for a senior leader to shape a product that's central to Amazon's strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our associates' career journeys and contributing to the overall growth of Amazon's global operations.

As Software Development Manager for the Connected Talent Management (CTM) product, you'll lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary team spanning software engineering, data engineering, applied science, and technical program management. Your responsibility will extend to managing development teams across three key locations: Seattle, Austin, and Dublin, Ireland.

Your primary focus will be overseeing the development of web and mobile applications, along with distributed web services, designed to support over one million operations associates worldwide. This role involves building sophisticated backend services, powered by applied science, to assist managers in forecasting staffing needs for both routine operations and peak demand periods such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

1. Ensure the CTM associate application on A to Z delivers unparalleled simplicity and automation for our employees.
2. Leverage Generative AI to enhance user experience, creating an intuitive, inspiring interface that scales effectively for our global employee base.
3. Develop and execute team strategy while fostering organizational growth.
4. Oversee the delivery of complex software solutions using agile methodologies.
5. Dive deep into problem-solving to guide your team towards optimal product and business decisions.
6. Nurture the professional development of your direct reports.

A day in the life:

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

1. Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in software engineering, applied science, and technical program management.
2. A proven track record in shipping complex software solutions through agile methodologies.
3. Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and solve intricate problems.
4. Demonstrated success in managing through others and developing team members' careers.
5. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage ambiguous situations and communicate effectively at the VP level.

You'll report directly to the Director of the organization, collaborating with peers who manage other groups contributing to our overall strategy. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a product central to Amazon's strategic initiatives while directly impacting the career growth of our global workforce.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
2. Experience in engineering team management.
3. Experience in engineering.
4. Experience in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
5. Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
2. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
