IFTA - Communications & Digital Media Intern

This is an excellent paid opportunity for a Marketing/ Communications/ Digital Media graduate and enthusiast to join the IFTA team for an exciting 12-month professional internship to work alongside the Academy’s PR & Communications team, as the Irish Academy embarks on its 22nd anniversary year in 2025.
About IFTA:
IFTA is a not-for-profit all-Ireland organisation with a membership of 1,300 Irish industry professionals who work within the Film, Television, Animation & Cultural Creative sectors in Ireland. The Academy nurtures and supports Irish creative talent and rewards Irish Excellence in achievement, showcasing it to the world at large. Next year in 2025 the Academy will undertake a wide-ranging high-profile Programme of Events across 12 months. As well as delivering the Irish Academy Award ceremonies, the Academy’s 12 month Learning Programme provides unique access to some of the world’s most inspiring and high profile talent through discussions, masterclasses, workshops, lectures, and mentoring programmes.
This internship position provides an invaluable entry point into a career in Film, Television or the Creative/Digital Media and Entertainment industry in Ireland and abroad, including production, arts administration or event management.
What you will Learn:
- Film PR & Comms Skills: The successful Intern candidate will get first-hand experience across the delivery of Ireland’s landmark Awards Programme for IFTA’s 2025, and gain invaluable knowledge and experience in assisting with the promotion of the Academy’s year-round Programme of Learning Events (IFTA Programme of Excellence). This position will assist with PR and communications work, including consumer facing campaigns, Digital Content, Social Media, Marketing campaigns & Online platforms and across both the Awards and the Academy’s year-round events.
- Partnerships & Promotions: Learn valuable skills across key promotional activities during IFTA’s busy Awards season and beyond, specifically with the delivery of key campaigns across various communication platforms (Cinema, Television, Print, Radio, Social Media & Digital Media platforms).
- Irish Audiovisual Sectoral Expertise: Gain invaluable insight into and understanding of the Irish Film, TV, Animation and creative digital media industry, as well as the major players within the Academy Membership across IFTA’s 15 chapters of Discipline - Acting, Writing, Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Animation, Costume, Music, Production Design & more. Acquire invaluable experience in liaising with Ireland’s key production companies, distributors, broadcasters, industry stakeholders, as well as international sales agents, distributors and streaming platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the PR & Communications team to deliver successful campaigns/engagement in line with the Academy Sales & Marketing strategy.
- Prepare content for digital marketing platforms incorporating images and graphics for social media, website, newsletters, email marketing.
- Schedule and publish social media content/ posts; write copy, coordinate, and source/create images for IFTA social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
- Edit and post videos, podcasts and/or audio content for our social media sites.
- Monitor content on IFTA Website and ensure text and imagery are kept updated.
- Create online promos and communications for Website, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc incorporating images/graphics using photoshop, canva, or similar.
- Monitor and coordinate community engagement on social media channels and update/collect the marketing statistics and related analytics and performance.
- Research and contribute to Press Releases, Social Media and Promotional Copy.
- Liaise with key contributors, representatives and journalists where required to source relevant material, content and contributors.
- Research and update Press contacts and Press registrations as required.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- A Marketing, PR or Communications Degree.
- A passion for and knowledge of Irish Film, TV and Animation, as well as the international industry as a whole.
- The ability to manage confidential information with absolute discretion and a high degree of personal integrity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and excellent organisational skills, be a clear and concise communicator.
- Experience with social media platforms is vital.
- General graphic design ability via Photoshop, Canva or similar desirable.
- Ability to manage volume of data, and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite etc.
- An interest in a career in PR, Communications, Marketing with a keen eye for detail, deadlines and campaign outcomes.
- Familiarity with HTML or have general web publishing skills desired but not required.
- Ability to work in a directed way, managing regular tasks, and multitasking across different areas.
Internship Details:
Contract: 12 months Start date: January 2025
Location: 68 Dame Street, Dublin 2. You must be able to work in the Dublin office a minimum 60% of your time.
