Underwriter Level 3

This is a key role supporting the Dublin office in the provision of industry and client specific technical underwriting.
The postholder will be required to deliver exceptional underwriting services to all HSB clients and brokers to a high technical standard and in line with the Company's culture of service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategically use internal data and market analytics to identify and inform underwriting decision making and exploit revenue opportunities within existing portfolio.
2. Proactively undertake account reviews to identify non-profitable accounts and ensure appropriate action is taken in line with business objectives.
3. Effectively contribute to corporate revenue streams through strategic planning of key account activities ensuring alignment with HSB's wider business ambitions.
4. Identify and undertake new and innovative approaches to maximise new and existing business growth in line with wider business ambitions.
5. Adopt a collaborative mindset/approach with Dublin's Regional Manager and Regional Underwriting Manager to generate new lead generation.
6. Actively use current binding authorities, ensuring continuous professional development to ensure the needs of the team, the business, and its customers are achieved.
7. Responsible for populating and updating HSB's CRM with all activity and business interactions.
8. Ensure exemplary customer service through the delivery of technical excellence and applying HSB's customer first approach in all stakeholder management activities.
9. Proactively engage and build relationships with external stakeholders to maximise opportunities and being aware of market developments.
10. Attend relevant industry and market specific events, conferences and networking activities to raise HSB's profile and market presence.
11. Work collaboratively with all Segments to enable and support a culture of high performance within the Customer Trading Hub, leading by example in adhering to the HSB Professional Standards.
12. Support and work collaboratively as directed with all Segment Leadership teams, Customer Trading Hub manager and team leader to enable the achievement of customer needs.
13. Attend broker meetings with BDMs as the technical underwriting lead, and deliver presentations and training workshops as required.
14. Ensure compliance with all internal and industry and regulatory requirements at all times.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Strong level of technical underwriting expertise gained in relevant insurance environment.
2. Critical analytical and reasoning skills.
3. Strong trading capability, commercial awareness, and ability to build strong broker relationships.
4. Understanding of commercial insurance governance and controls.
5. Ability to apply high level strategic planning concepts.
6. Excellent project management skills.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
1. ACII qualified or working towards.
2. Degree level education or equivalent relevant industry experience.
