Location: Remote (with occasional on-site visits)
Contract Type: [6–12 months – extendable]
Department: Hardware Engineering / Signal Integrity
Overview:
We are seeking a Contract Signal Integrity Engineer with expertise in S-Parameter Analysis and/or PCB Extraction to support high-speed PCB and package design, modeling, and simulation work. The role involves developing accurate high-frequency models through EM extraction, S-parameter characterization, and signal integrity analysis.
This is a remote contract position with occasional visits to the client’s site as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform S-Parameter modeling and frequency-domain analysis of high-speed interconnects, packages, and PCB structures.
- Conduct EM/field solver extraction for parasitic and impedance modeling (RLC/RC extraction, crosstalk, delay).
- Generate and validate Touchstone (.snp) models for components, transmission lines, and interconnects.
- Analyze S11/S21, return loss, and insertion loss characteristics using simulation and measurement data.
- Use EM simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, Clarity, SIwave, CST, ADS Momentum) to perform 3D EM extraction and parameterized model generation.
- Collaborate with PCB layout and design teams to integrate extracted models into system simulations.
- Correlate measurement data (VNA) with simulation results to verify model accuracy.
- Document procedures, maintain model libraries, and support design validation teams with model updates.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of S-Parameters, scattering parameters, and network parameter theory.
- Hands-on experience with RF characterization and VNA measurements.
- Proficiency in one or more EM extraction/field solver tools (e.g., Cadence Clarity, Ansys HFSS/SIwave, CST Studio, Keysight ADS, Synopsys Raptor, or similar).
- Experience with PCB parasitic extraction, EM modeling, and high-frequency simulation.
- Solid background in signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) principles.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, or related field.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with parameterized model generation or automated extraction workflows.
- Knowledge of SPICE, IBIS-AMI, or other system-level modeling standards.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, SerDes, USB, Ethernet).
- Scripting or automation experience (Python, MATLAB, SKILL, or TCL).
