The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) is looking for a Grid Delivery Manager to own the delivery of large-scale critical HV/MV grid interconnection projects within EMEA under tight deadlines. If you like to leverage your technical understanding of critical substation projects including cables and overhead lines from design through energization phase, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help drive the grid infrastructure delivery program, standardize processes, develop tools for delivery executions, support financial budgeting, and act as the point of contact between AWS and electricity utilities.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities
1. You will communicate with senior and VP stakeholders to deliver complex projects across diverse teams to tight timelines.
2. You will provide weekly reporting on key project risks & issues at senior management, director, and vice president level.
3. You will drive the grid infrastructure delivery program.
4. You will standardize processes and develop tools for delivery executions.
5. You will support financial budgeting and act as the point of contact between AWS and electricity utilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction or related field.
2. 8+ years experience leading, influencing and partnering with multiple stakeholders to deliver high-voltage (HV) grid infrastructure projects (substations, overhead lines, underground cables) under tight deadlines.
3. 5+ years experience working with Utilities with a strong understanding of Utility grid interconnection requirements and Utility culture.
4. Demonstrated understanding of HV/MV electrical safety standards & protocols.
5. Professional communication skills in English and Italian or German.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
2. Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
3. Experience designing substations or other energy infrastructure.
4. Experience working for utilities and with or for energy regulators.
5. Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services.
6. Ability to converse in Spanish / French is advantageous.
