About The Role
Are you an experienced field scientist with a background in the marine sector? Are you looking for a varied role where you can apply and develop your fieldwork and surveying skills across a variety of environments, including aquaculture farms, coastal/transitional waters, and ports & harbours? AQUAFACT, part of the APEM Group, are looking for Senior Field Scientists to join our team
As a Senior Field Scientist, you will manage activities and projects for the AQUAFACT field team, supporting the Principal Field Scientist in planning and coordinating field activities for current and future projects and ensuring all administrative and project management activities are completed. You will have responsibility for planning field activities, including preparing risk assessments and method statements, as well as commercial management of projects, and participating in field-based activities and monitoring. You will develop strong working relationships with clients and other key stakeholders, becoming a point of contact for the wider team to provide scientific advice and guidance on fieldwork activities.
Over time, you will become confident in the management of field activities for projects, ensuring resources are utilized effectively and projects are properly planned and delivered to a high quality within agreed timeframes. You will become an advisor within the team, providing advice on various survey types and equipment calibration, set-up, and maintenance, as well as scientific expertise and experience in your field.
You will have:
1. Relevant third level Degree (Level 8 or higher) and at least 3 years professional experience in environmental monitoring and assessment.
2. Experience of survey planning and managing logistics.
3. Experience of Health and Safety management systems.
4. Experience in managing field teams and project management.
5. Strong, creative problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
6. Experience in carrying out a variety of survey types, including offshore experience (including calibration, deployment, and maintenance of various pieces of equipment).
7. Experience in the use of Deltek or other project management software.
8. Driving Licence.
HSE or HSA Commercial Diver qualification & experience acting as a Dive Contractor and Dive Supervisor, as well as ISA Commercial Endorsement for Passenger Vessel and/or Towing licence (Category BE) would be beneficial, but not essential.
