Exyte are now hiring for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, responsible for the preconstruction commercial management of mechanical scope on Data Center projects across Northern Europe.
This role will be based in our offices in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland.
About Our Data Centers (DTC) Division Exyte delivers comprehensive data center services from design to construction, ensuring efficiency and reliability. With our integrated project delivery approach, we have successfully executed numerous projects worldwide, including advanced intelligence data centers, hyperscale data centers, colocation and cloud-computing data centers using traditional construction as well as modular construction techniques.
Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to estimate quantities and costs.
Develop cost plans and budgets for the mechanical scope.
Use digital tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, Revit) to ensure precision and efficiency in quantification.
Assist in developing procurement strategies (e.g., package breakdowns, early procurement of long-lead and big ticket material items).
Ensure all mechanical scopes are correctly captured and categorized to aid tendering and procurement.
Issue tenders to subcontractors and suppliers.
Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor bids for mechanical work.
Advise on procurement strategies for mechanical packages.
Review and interrogate design for Value Engineering options / alternative specification options to maximize value
Show Your Expertise 3rd level education diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or related area
At least 5 years relevant post qualification experience with a main contractor, ideally within Data Centers
Relevant experience in Data Centers with client projects which total over €500M
Strong track record on commercial build projects, within Data Centers
Experience of package negotiation
Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and logical skills
Able to work accurately with figures
