Global Payroll Compliance Expert - France

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @ Rippling.com addresses.

Rippling is rapidly expanding its Global Payroll product and France is a key market with highly complex payroll and regulatory requirements. We’re looking for a Payroll Compliance Expert with deep expertise in French payroll, DSN, and social security rules to support Rippling’s Product Compliance team and help us build a scalable, accurate, and compliant payroll experience for French customers.

In this role, you’ll bring senior-level payroll expertise to guide product decisions, create and review complex compliance briefs, and ensure the accuracy and consistency of French payroll logic as we expand coverage and automation for the French market. You will play a key role in helping the team navigate payroll edge cases, assess regulatory impacts, and prioritize the most critical compliance needs as the product evolves. You will also help develop the team by mentoring junior members and bringing clarity to edge cases and regulatory constraints.

You’ll work closely with Payroll Operations, Product Managers, and Engineering to ensure that payroll requirements are correctly implemented, updated, and maintained as regulations evolve. This is a highly cross-functional role with direct impact on product quality, customer trust, and our ability to scale efficiently in France.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced payroll professional who wants to contribute to the long-term direction of our payroll product, support operational decision-making, and drive improvements that strengthen product reliability and compliance.

Fluency in French and English (written and verbal) is required.

What you will do

- Produce high-quality payroll compliance briefs: Create detailed, accurate compliance briefs for complex features and validate briefs drafted by junior specialists to maintain consistency and regulatory rigor
- Ensure quality and consistency across compliance deliverables: Produce and validate product-ready requirements, guidance, and documentation
- Regulatory expertise: Ensure our product remains compliant with payroll regulations, DSN standards, and evolving French social security rules
- Mentorship & coaching: Support the growth and development of the Product Compliance team by coaching less experienced specialists
- Decision-making support: Provide expert guidance on payroll edge cases, regulatory constraints, and implementation feasibility
- Improve processes and drive scalability: Identify inefficiencies or gaps in compliance workflows and support automation initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce manual work
- Contribute to roadmap prioritization and long-term planning: Identify high-impact compliance needs and upcoming risks and support prioritization based on regulatory evolution, customer issues, and operational trends
- Cross-functional leadership: Partner closely with Payroll Operations and Product to build alignment and ensure smooth implementation of complex requirements

What you will need

- Extensive payroll expertise: 10+ years of hands-on experience in French payroll, ideally in a payroll provider or outsourcing environment
- DSN mastery: Deep expertise in DSN, social contributions, tax rules, and payroll edge cases
- Compliance leadership: Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and guide expert-level decisions
- Project management skills: Strong ability to plan, anticipate risks, structure roadmaps, and manage multiple priorities
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
- Analytical & problem-solving skills: Ability to identify risks, resolve complex scenarios, and propose scalable solutions
- Cross-team collaboration: Strong communication skills and comfort working with Product, Engineering, and Payroll Ops
- Tech-savvy: Experience with payroll tools, automation initiatives, or SaaS environments is a plus
- Languages: Full fluency in French and English
