Manager - Governance and Risk Reporting

Operational and Information Technology (IT) Risk is a priority focus area for the Bank and our Regulator, and the role holder has the potential to make a significant impact by developing and supporting the delivery of an effective and efficient Operational & IT Risk function. This function is a key component of the Second Line of Defence and is responsible for the ongoing assessment and monitoring of Operational and Technology risks across the Bank. As a Manager, your role will involve leading others and supporting the Senior Manager Governance & Risk Reporting to execute the responsibilities for your team. Additional responsibilities will include assisting in the development, implementation and embedding of revised frameworks, policies, methodologies, tools and training for the effective management and oversight of Operational and Information Technology Risk across the Bank. This team will be responsible for managing and supporting a number of the functions key activities including: delivering of high quality and insightful Management Information for both internal and external stakeholders; Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) for Operational and IT Risk; Risk Appetite Statement and Key Risk Indicator development, reporting and coordination; Risk & Controls Self-Assessment process; internal and external reporting obligations; tracking of Issues and Actions; development and execution of an internal ongoing quality assurance programme. As a people manager, you will be required to inspire and motivate your team to adopt the same, high standards of delivery, integrity and competency in their own field. You will guide and coach your team to support you with the delivery of your team objectives, and will yourself be actively involved in the day to day delivery. In this position, you will also work with other Senior Management within the Operational & IT Risk function, the Group Risk Leadership team and wider Senior Leadership Team within the Bank. Responsibilities: Support a number of the functions key activities; including Risk & Controls Self-Assessment process; internal and external reporting obligations; input to and management of the schedule of monitoring and testing activities; tracking of Issues and Actions; development and execution of an internal ongoing quality assurance programme Support the production of high-quality and insightful Management Information, reports and presentations on behalf of the function, for both internal and external reporting obligations. Carry out assurance work, key analysis and deep dives on issues and risk related matters on behalf of the function and ensure that these are reported in a timely manner to the appropriate governance committees and stakeholders. Support the wider Operational & IT Risk function in providing expertise and in delivering appropriate and meaningful challenge, guidance and support to various business areas, to ensure their Operational and Technology Risks, including change, are managed in accordance with the Banks Internal Control and Risk Management frameworks and related policies and procedures. Assist in the development, implementation and embedding of risk frameworks, policies, methodologies, tools and training / courses for the effective management and oversight of Operational and Technology Risk across the Bank. Lead, develop and motivate team members to ensure they meet their objectives and achieve their full potential, while fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. Manage engagement and interaction with a variety of business areas and stakeholders in supportive and collaborative ways to embed a strong culture that values risk and compliance management. Requirements: Strong understanding and experience of governance, risk management, risk assessment and control practices within a Retail Bank, including applicable regulatory and legislative requirements, specifically regarding Operational Risk. Experienced in conducting risk and control assessments, creating risk response strategies and providing support for Senior Management on risk and control issues. Ability to organise and prioritise workloads appropriately, with strong attention to detail, and show determination and flexibility to deliver to very challenging deadlines. Ability to communicate and negotiate successfully with colleagues at all levels, up to and including Senior Executives, and build effective working relationships across the business. Ability to inspire and motivate teams to perform at a high-level in a challenging and fast moving environment, with changing priorities and time pressures.
