Job Title: Music Therapy Teacher (Temporary Contract) Reporting to: Head of Junior RIAM, Adult Division and Life Long Learning Role type: Specified Purpose fixed term contract; part time 7.5 hour per week to cover parental leave. Start date expected to be beginning of November 2025. ROLE DESCRIPTION: The Royal Irish Academy of Music invites applications for a Music Therapist to provide parental leave cover. The post holder will be responsible for the referral, delivery, coordination, and management of the Music Therapy Clinic. The role includes direct clinical work, clinic administration, and potential involvement in outreach to day facilities and the delivery of workshops to internal and external teaching communities. The current clinic schedule includes Saturdays, with flexibility to arrange appointment times with individual clients. The position requires 7.5 secured clinic contact hours per week, with the possibility of additional external hours on approval. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: ManageallaspectsoftheMusicTherapyClinic,includingreferrals,scheduling, administration, and service coordination. Conductclientassessmentsanddevelopindividualisedtreatmentplans. Deliverindividualandgrouptherapysessionsusingappropriateclinicalandmusical approaches. Maintainaccuraterecords,evaluateoutcomes,andadjustinterventionsasnecessary. Liaise and collaborate with colleagues, educators, healthcare professionals, and caregivers. Plananddeliverworkshopsforstaff,students,andexternalpartnersasrequired. Undertakeoutreachworkindayfacilitiesorothercommunitysettingswhen appropriate. Adheretoprofessionalandethicalstandards,includingconfidentialityand safeguarding policies. Engageincontinuingprofessionaldevelopmentandsupervision. Skills & Experience MastersdegreeinMusicTherapy ProfessionalregistrationwithIACAT. Demonstrableclinicalexperienceinhealthcare,educational,orcommunity settings. Highlevelofproficiencyinvoiceandatleastoneaccompanyinginstrument(e.g., guitar or piano). Excellentorganisational,communication,andinterpersonalskills. Abilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofanacademicstaffteam. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with clinicians outside RIAM where appropriate. Desirable Qualifications Experienceinclinicorservicemanagement. Experiencedeliveringworkshopsorpresentationsinadvocacyofmusictherapy ExperiencedeliveringreportsandevaluationswhereappropriatetoMDT members/caregivers Familiarity with music therapy-related technology and software As RIAM is an institution that has students from all over Ireland, the position may involve Saturday teaching and teaching after 3pm on weekdays.
