Checkout Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Checkout Manager to lead a busy supermarket team in North County Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with retail supervisory experience who is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

The role involves managing a full-time position working 42.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overall management of a busy checkout department.
  • Supervision of a team of 8-10 staff on duty.
  • Rostering for a team of approximately 25, including supervisory staff.
  • Queue management and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Ensuring all staff have the tools required for their role.
  • Covering tills during peak periods and supporting the customer service desk.
  • Overseeing the store end of home delivery operations.
  • Departmental housekeeping and adherence to relevant legislation.
  • Staff training, development, and mentoring.
  • Assisting the store manager in other areas as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing a busy checkout team in a retail grocery environment.
  • Experience with till/cash register systems.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience in staff training and development.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Flexible to work early starts, late finishes, and weekends.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
