The Role of a Psychiatric Nurse

As a Psychiatric Nurse, you will be responsible for developing and upskilling in the delivery of effective front-line support, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote good relationships with primary health care services and support patients in reaching their full potential.


Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Management and Administration of Medications
  • Support the development and implementation of Health Assessments, Medication Plans, and other supporting documents
  • Promote good relationships with primary health care services
  • Communicate and liaise with the Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to Patients

Skills Requirement

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Registration on the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Excellent knowledge of all aspects of Medication Management
  • An understanding of the needs of individuals
  • Experience in Nursing in a similar psychiatric field
  • Effective verbal and written communication
